MOTOR VEHICLE STOP TURNS UP DEFACED HANDGUN

On Monday, September 14, 2020 at 3:56 PM, P.O. Benjamin Singer conducted a motor vehicle stop of a 2020 Chevy Malibu on Route 17 north. While making contact with the driver and passenger, P.O. Singer detected an odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. Upon further investigation, a .22 caliber revolver was located in a jacket belonging to the front seat passenger, identified as Isaiah Sifontes, 21, of Rensselaer, NY. The handgun was loaded with hollow-point bullets and the serial number was defaced. Mr. Sifontes was arrested for several firearms related offenses and possession of marijuana. He was lodged at the Bergen County Jail pending a court hearing.

The driver, Kha-Jahmel Gaddy, 24, of Albany, NY, was also arrested for possession of marijuana and released pending a court date.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
