CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY - LAWS & SEAT ASSISTANCE
CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY LAW
Under NJ law, Children under 8 years of age must be secured in a child passenger restraint system or a booster seat. An amended version of this law went into effect on September 1, 2015, which is detailed as follows:
CHILD SEAT INSTALLATION AND SAFETY CHECKS
Often times, first-time parents or caregivers are uncomfortable with the installation of a child seat. In many instances, it has been found that a large percentage of child seats are not installed properly and additional help is needed to get the installation correct. To assist with this, Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST’s) are trained to help parents and caregivers.
Officer Erik Aronson is the department’s child passenger safety technician, and can assist Borough Residents requiring help with the installation or inspection of a child seat. This may be done by appointment, and he can be reached by clicking here or by calling him at 201-845-2900 Ext. 143
