BELLEVILLE MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG DISTRIBUTION CHARGES AFTER ROUTE 17 CAR STOP

On Saturday, August 28, 2021, the Maywood Police Department arrested Vittorio Rizzo, 42, of Belleville, on drug distribution charges.

 

P.O. Michael McMahon stopped Mr. Rizzo on Route 17 North after observing him commit numerous motor vehicle violations. During the course of the motor vehicle stop, P.O. McMahon requested Detective Christopher Nichols and his K-9 partner Ryker to assist. K-9 Ryker was deployed and alerted to the presence of the odor of narcotics in the vehicle.

 

A subsequent search of Mr. Rizzo’s vehicle produced over 14 pounds of marijuana, 1 pound of hallucinogenic mushrooms, Oxycontin, Adderall, drug packaging materials, and over $3,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

 

Mr. Rizzo was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana (14 pounds), Possession of Oxycodone Hydrochloride, Possession of Amphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Hallucinogenic Mushrooms (1 pound), Possession with Intent to Distribute Hashish, Possession with Intent to Distribute Drug Paraphernalia, and Money Laundering.

 

Mr. Rizzo was transported to the Bergen County Jail where he was lodged pending a court appearance.

 

These charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
