NY DRIVER ARRESTED FOR DRUG OFFENSES AND WARRANTS

The Maywood Police Department arrested Roberto Nunez, 27, of New York, NY on drug distribution charges.

At approximately 2207 hours on March 30, 2017, Officer William Phayre and Detective Jason Liaban conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 17 North on a silver Mercedes for a broken tail light and the vehicle’s suspended registration. While speaking with Nunez, officers detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the interior compartment of the vehicle and observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. Nunez also had two active warrants from the South Hackensack Municipal Court totaling $1500. A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded 198 Xanax pills, 16 glassine envelopes stamped “KO” of heroin, endocet, marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Nunez was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Xanax, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Endocet, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Nunez was lodged in the Bergen County Jail pending his appearance at Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
