TWO ARRESTED FOR THEFTS FROM MAILBOXES

On Monday, April 2, 2018 at 0303 hours, Officer Greg Mulawka checked two suspicious males on bicycles near the Maywood Post Office located on West Pleasant Avenue. On scene investigation revealed that the males, one adult and one juvenile, were in possession of several stolen checks and numerous pieces of mail.

Officers also located a string hanging from a nearby mailbox with a "fishing" device attached to it. These fishing devices are commonly placed in mailboxes and have an adhesive on them, allowing the "fisher" to remove mail from the mailbox.

The juvenile was charged with juvenile delinquency complaints charging him with Trafficking Personal Identification, Conspiracy, Theft, Possession of Burglary Tools and Receiving Stolen Property. The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Teterboro, NJ.

Mancebopujols was lodged in the Bergen County Jail pending his appearance at Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court.

The U.S. Postal Inspector's Office was notified and assisted in the investigation.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
