MAYWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Thursday, May 12, 2022, at approximately 01:13 hours, Officer Brian Rubio conducted a motor vehicle stop on West Passaic on a 2012, Ford Transit van for multiple motor vehicle violations, as the vehicle was observed driving suspiciously through the town center.  During the course of the investigation, the driver, Stanley Ransom, 35, of Jonesboro, Arkansas was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun concealed in his waistband. Ransom was arrested and charged with Possession of a Weapon, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition and Possession of a High-Capacity Magazine.  Ransom was charged on a complaint warrant and remanded to the Bergen County Jail.

 

Officer Rubio was assisted by Officer Noel Hodgins and Detective Chris Nichols.

 

These charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
