HOME HEALTH AIDE ARRESTED FOR THEFT AND FRAUD CHARGES

The Maywood Police Department arrested Kareen Carnegie, 27, of Paterson, NJ for fraudulent use of a credit card and theft related charges.

On December 6, 2017, the Maywood Police Department received a report of suspicious credit card purchases from the victim, an 88 year old Maywood resident. The victim reported that during a six month period between June 2017 and December 2017, numerous unauthorized transactions were made on her credit card.

Subsequent investigation by D/Sgt. Richard Brown and Det. Jason Liaban led to the victim’s home health aide being identified as a suspect. During a six month period, approximately $3,435 was fraudulently charged on the victim’s credit card at various locations in Maywood, Rochelle Park and Paterson. Ms. Carnegie was charged with theft of an access device and fraudulent use of a credit card. Ms. Carnegie was issued a criminal complaint summons and released pending her first appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Court.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
