ORGANIZED RETAIL THEFT CREW ARRESTED

On Thursday, April 8, 2021, the Maywood Police Department was notified by members of the Ramsey Police Department in regards to a shoplifting that just occurred at their Ulta Beauty store located on Route 17. The suspects matched the description of members of an organized retail theft crew that has been targeting numerous Ulta Beauty stores across the state over the past several weeks.
Detective Sergeant William Phayre responded to the Maywood Ulta Beauty store, located at 45 West Spring Valley Avenue in the Bergen Town Center, and set up surveillance in the event that the theft crew targeted that location. Shortly after his arrival, D/Sgt. Phayre observed the suspect vehicle and suspects in the rear parking lot of the Ulta Beauty Store. P.O. Benjamin Singer and P.O. Keion Best arrived on scene and approached the suspects who proceeded to flee in their vehicle, leading them on a brief pursuit that ended at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Shephard Way in Paramus.
Four actors were taken into custody and identified as: Alexis P. Robinson (driver), 23, of South Daytona, Florida; Keyshawn R. Middleton, 23, of Bronx, NY; Quadir T. Barley, 21, of Bronx, NY; Sean C. Jasper, 20, of New York, NY.
The suspect’s vehicle was seized and a search warrant was granted, which resulted in the recovery of over $7,200 worth of stolen perfume and approximately $1,800 in U.S. currency believed to be derived from criminally activity.
Mr. Robinson was charged with Eluding in a Motor Vehicle, Receiving Stolen Property, Conspiracy to Commit Theft, and Financial Facilitation of Criminal Activity.
Mr. Middleton was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Conspiracy to Commit Theft, and Financial Facilitation of Criminal Activity.
Mr. Barley was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Conspiracy to Commit Theft, and Financial Facilitation of Criminal Activity.
Mr. Jasper was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Conspiracy to Commit Theft.
The Ramsey Police Department also charged all four defendants for the shoplifting that occurred in their jurisdiction. The defendants were transported to the Bergen County Jail where they will be held pending their court hearings. This theft crew is currently being investigated by multiple agencies across the tri-state area for similar thefts.
These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
