APPLICATION FOR FULL TIME POLICE OFFICER

The Maywood Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of full time Police Officer.

 

All applicants must currently have a New Jersey Police Training Commission certification, or currently enrolled in a New Jersey Alternate Route class which will graduate by March 2017. There are no waivers eligible for Class 1, Class 2 or out of state officers.

Applications will run from January 4th until January 23, 2017.

Interested applicants must also be in compliance with one of the following:
a) At least 60 college level credits earned and completed from an accredited college or university;
b) At least two consecutive years of military service with an honorary discharge; or
c) At least two years of full-time law enforcement experience with a municipal, county, state, or federal police or law enforcement department or agency.


He or she shall, after being appointed subject to the following condition, shall satisfactorily pass the physical, psychological, and psychiatric examinations that may be required before physicians, psychologists, or psychiatrists designated by the Mayor and Council. These examinations shall be designed to determine, according to accepted medical and psychological standards, the candidate's fitness and ability to perform the duties of a police officer without danger or impediment to the health, safety, and welfare of the candidate, his or her fellow officers, and the public at large, as well as to demonstrate the candidate's eligibility for inclusion in the Police and Firemen's Retirement System.
