PEDAL WITH THE POLICE
On October 30, 2019, 27 students from the Maywood Avenue School participated in the department's "Pedal with the Police" event, which is designed to encourage children to bicycle to school and to teach safe bicycle riding. Participants rode almost three miles throughout Maywood streets with Officer Aronson, in which they focused on safe riding techniques, riding in groups, rules of the road, and use of hand signals. The Maywood Police Department thanks EZ Ride's Bicycle and Pedestrian program staff, the Maywood Ave School, and the Maywood Fire Police for their support of this event.
On October 29, 2019, P.O. Aronson and Lt. Wuhrl attended the EZ Ride Annual Recognition Luncheon in Clark, NJ. The Maywood Police Department was awarded Gold Level Recognition for New Jersey Safe Routes to School. This award recognizes commitment and support of programs encouraging children to walk and bicycle to school.
