TWO CHARGED IN ARMED ROBBERY OF DOMINO'S PIZZA DELIVERY DRIVER
On May 23, 2016, the Maywood Police Department received a report of an armed robbery of a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver on Bergen Avenue by two unknown actors. As one actor was obtaining the food order from the driver, the second actor approached the driver from behind. The second actor produced a black handgun and demanded the driver’s money. The driver handed over $40.00 and the pizza order. The two actors fled north on Bergen Avenue to West Passaic Street.
The Maywood Police Department’s Detective Bureau conducted an investigation and with the assistance of the Hackensack Police Department identified the two actors. On August 11, 2016, Maywood Police Department Det. Matthew Parodi subsequently arrested the two suspects in connection to the armed robbery.
The suspects were identified as Paul Johnson Jr., 24, of Paterson and Romieo Richards, 19, of Paterson. Mr. Johnson Jr. was charged with robbery and Mr. Richards was charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon.
Maywood Municipal Court Judge George O. Savino set bail for both parties. Mr. Johnson Jr. was released from Headquarters after posting his bail. A detainer was sent to the Bergen County Jail for Mr. Richards in lieu of his $72,500.00 bail.
