MAYWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT

On December 15, 2016, Sgt. Derek Smith and Officer Peter Donatello were dispatched to call reporting an adult male in cardiac arrest. Sgt. Smith and Officer Donatello arrived on scene within two minutes and immediately began CPR. They applied one of the Departmental defibrillators to the victim and delivered two shocks, bringing him out of cardiac arrest. The victim was turned over to E.M.T.s and Paramedics who transported him to Hackensack University Medical Center where he made a full recovery.

On Tuesday, February 15, 2017, the Borough of Maywood Mayor & Council recognized Sgt. Smith and Officer Donatello for their life saving actions at their monthly meeting.
