TWO ARRESTED WITH STOLEN CREDIT CARDS

On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, the Maywood Police Department arrested Donald Givens III, 30 of Linden, and Jerel Wilson, 30 of East Orange, for credit card theft.

Officer Benjamin Singer and Officer Stephanie Laurent stopped Mr. Givens III and Mr. Wilson on Essex Street after observing multiple motor vehicle violations.

Upon speaking with Mr. Givens III and Mr. Wilson, they provided conflicting stories regarding their travels. The officers asked for consent to search the vehicle which was granted by Mr. Givens III. The search yielded stolen mail and nineteen (19) credit cards each in a different person’s name. Also recovered from the vehicle were suspected proceeds of criminal activity which included $1,600 in Apple gift cards.

Mr. Givens III and Mr. Wilson were both charged with Possession of Stolen Credit Cards. Mr. Wilson was found to have an active warrant out of Stafford Township for $750 which he posted bail for. Both were released from custody pending their future court appearances.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
