MAYWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Friday, June 8, 2018, members of the Maywood Police Department and students from the Maywood Avenue School Cross Country Team joined forces to raise awareness and funds for the New Jersey Special Olympics Torch Run. Officers received the torch at the town border from members of the Rochelle Park Police Department and ran up Passaic Street before circling around to Maywood Avenue School where the students joined them. The entire school and many other supporters lined Maywood Avenue, cheering as the torch passed through town. It was great to see so many members of the community come out and support this great cause. We would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Jordan, Mr. Timmins and the Maywood Board of Education. The Maywood Board of Education generously donated $800 to sponsor the Maywood Hawks Cross Country Team, allowing each member to run alongside the Police Department as the Torch Run passed through town.
