On Friday May 11, 2018, the Maywood Police held its annual Spring Bike Rodeo at the Maywood Ave School.  In total, there were 23 participants.  We gave out at least 6 helmets to those in need, and registered 18 bicycles with the department.

The main focus of the event was bicycle riding safety, along with helmet fitting and usage.

All participants received assorted Maywood PD water bottles, Maywood PD light/reflectors, thin blue line silicone bracelets, Safe Roads to School silicone bracelets, and safety literature.

11 participants won assorted drawing prizes, which consisted of bicycle locks, bicycle bells, bicycle lights, spoke lights, a handlebar mirror, and a bicycle bag.   One participant has been selected as the winner of a new bicycle, whom the Maywood Police Officer's Association has agreed to purchase a new bicycle for.  Arrangements are currently being made to coordinate this with the winner.

The Maywood Police Department wants to thank the Maywood Ave School, Meadowlink's Safe Routes to School, Safe Kids of Bergen County, and Jax Car Wash for their support of this event.

Lastly, the Maywood Police Department thanks each of the participants and their parents for their interest in this great event.  For questions about this event or bicycle safety related questions, please contact Officer Erik Aronson at 201-845-2900 Ext. 143 or via e-mail at
